Monte Vista Christian Church has been hosting luncheons featuring different

organizations called Roadrunner lunch. This last week they featured Cuidando Los Niños. Cuidando Los Niños provides services to families experiencing homelessness or poverty, helping to ensure that children have access to food, shelter, and education. The talk featured the two founders of Cuidando Los Niños, Lauri Reiter and Lisa O’Riley, and Executive Director Jeffery Hoehn. They shared stories of families and children who have been helped by their programs and services, highlighting the importance of their work.

We were excited to attend and learn more about another organization that is doing so much for our community. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cuidando Los Niños and making a positive impact in our community together.

On Friday, April 14, Abbey Reed, the Director of our Housing/Homelessness program presented a work shop to Board Members of ABQ FaithWorks about Corporate/Individual Donor Fundraising strategies.

Abbey spent 16 years of her career in Mexico working as a Sports Chaplain. She was responsible for securing funding for her position, including several yearly trips abroad for International Games, the Olympics, and other Professional Sporting events, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars through the years.

Abbey shared a Powerpoint presentation that our Board Members can use when speaking to small or large groups of funders. Aside from pledges and grants we receive for programming at FaithWorks, our Organization and specifically our Board of Directors, are responsible for securing almost 20% of our annual budget. Abbey incites and strategies for raising these funds will ensure a successful fundraising campaign by our Board Members.

If you are interested in learning more about fundraising using this strategy, please contact Abbey Reed at (505) 225-2752. Abbey is available to meet one-on-one with you to share her expertise in this area!

Monte Vista Christian Church, one of our faith communities in our collaboration, recently took the initiative to make a special gift for families in our Rapid Rehousing program. The church members came together and made quilts for the families transitioning into homes. The creativity and care to make quilts for these families is a beautiful message of letting people know that their community is behind them.

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity we have received from Churches to help with our Housing Starter Kits. St. Andrew's and Monte Vista Christian Church donated enough supplies for several Home Starter Kits. We have several other faith communities who are also helping us. Our congregation's generosity and kindness demonstrate a larger community willing to support families in need.

Many thanks to each of our congregations that are demonstrating boundless compassion and positively impacting our community.
