Family Liaison Volunteers
At the heart of our Asylum Support program, Family Liaisons work with asylum seeking families and individuals to help achieve self-sufficiency and belonging in their new communities. Spanish or use of translation apps desirable. With weekly & monthly check-ins, and support from our staff and volunteer teams, the family liaison helps clients connect to resources, navigate the legal system, and attain secure housing, employment, training, and education.

Often the first long-term, reliable, and meaningful connection an asylum seeker has in their new community, this impactful role enriches the lives of our volunteers too:
"I knew I was making a difference when I can see how settled and comfortable the family feels. Having to leave everything behind and move far away is traumatic, and it's good to see their resilience." - Therese, Family Liaison Volunteer
" I have received untold satisfaction in seeing how proactive my family is and then, when they need some assistance, they allow me to contribute!" - Ella Joan, Family Liaison Volunteer
"ABQ FaithWorks has been helpful to my friend in the following ways:
-
Food Boxes
-
Furnishing an apartment
-
Providing cookware..." - Bill, Family Liaison Volunteer
